8th grade Grad Message to Families 2025

Dear 8th Grade Families,

It is hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end and we will soon be sending our 8th graders off to high school. It is a bittersweet time for us as we celebrate the hard work of our students and prepare ourselves to say goodbye. The entire 8th-grade team thanks you for your partnership and trust in AEACMS. As we prepare for Harbor Cruise and promotion, please find some important reminders below:

  • June 2 – Cap and Gown Distribution: Students will receive their gown and cap on Monday, June 2nd. Please hang the gown to reduce the wrinkles and folded edges of the gown. Students will keep their cap and gowns so cap decorations are permitted. 

 

  • June 3 – Harbor Cruise: Harbor Cruise is Tuesday, June 3rd from 2pm-4:30pm. There will be a modified minimum day school schedule for 8th grade students. The day will end at 11:45 am. Please be reminded that drop-off is at 990 North Harbor Drive. Students must be dropped off at 2:00 pm sharp.  Please be sure you arrive at 4:30 PM for pick up. We respectfully request that all students are picked up on time. Teachers have discussed attire options with students.  Many students enjoy the opportunity to dress up, but it is our goal that they wear what makes them comfortable. No swimsuits/shorts. Please note that the Harbor Cruise is a privilege and students may be removed from the trip or other end of the year activities at the discretion of the teaching staff and administration. 

 

  • June 4 – Promotion Day: The graduation ceremony is on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 from 7:30-9pm.
      • Students should arrive NO LATER than 7:00 PM.
      • Graduation starts promptly at 7:30 PM. 
      • Balloons are not permitted in Balboa Park.
      • Graduation is at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park:
        2125 Pan American Rd East, San Diego, CA 92101
      • Due to the size of this location, no tickets are required to attend the ceremony. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Dedicated, accessible and wheelchair seating will be available for those who need it.
      • Spanish translation services will also be provided.
      • There is plenty of public parking near the pavilion.
      • Please be prepared for cooler weather in the evening. We recommend bringing a jacket and you are allowed to bring water. 
      • Please note that students must collect their graduation certificate, any other awards and a gift on Thursday June 5 or Friday June 6 in person at the middle school campus.

Mensaje de Graduación de 8.º Grado para las Familias 2025

Estimadas Familias del 8vo Grado,

Es difícil creer que el año escolar está llegando a su fin y pronto enviaremos a nuestros estudiantes de 8º grado a la preparatoria. Es un momento agridulce para nosotros mientras celebramos el arduo trabajo de nuestros estudiantes y nos preparamos para despedirles. Todo el equipo de 8º grado les agradece su colaboración y confianza en AEA. Mientras nos preparamos para el crucero por el puerto y la promoción, encontrará algunos recordatorios importantes a continuación:

  • 2 de junio – Gorro y vestido de graduación: Los estudiantes recibirán su gorro y vestido de graduación el lunes 2 de junio. Cuelgue el vestido para reducir sus arrugas y los bordes doblados.

 

  • 3 de junio – Crucero por el puerto: ¡El crucero por el puerto es el martes 3 de junio! Recuerde que el sitio del embarcadero está en 990 North Harbor Drive. Los estudiantes deben ser dejados a las 2:00pm en punto. Habrá un horario escolar mínimo modificado para los estudiantes de octavo grado: el día finalizará a las 11:45am. Asegúrese de llegar a las 4:30p.m. para que los recojan. Solicitamos respetuosamente que todos los estudiantes sean recogidos a tiempo. Los maestros han discutido las opciones de vestuario con los estudiantes. Muchos estudiantes disfrutan la oportunidad de vestirse elegantemente, pero nuestro objetivo es que usen lo que los hace sentir cómodos. No trajes de baño/pantalones cortos. Tenga en cuenta que el crucero por el puerto es un privilegio y los estudiantes pueden ser retirados del viaje y otras actividades de fin de año a discreción de los maestros y la administración.

 

  • 4 de junio – Día de graduación:
      • La ceremonia de graduación es el miércoles 4 de junio de 2025 de 7:30pm-9pm.
      • Los estudiantes deben llegar A MÁS TARDAR a las 7:00 PM.
      • La graduación comienza a las 7:30pm y debe durar aproximadamente una hora y media.
      • No se permiten globos en Balboa Park.
      • El lugar de la graduación es el Spreckels Organ Pavilion en Balboa Park:
        2125 Pan American Rd Este, San Diego, CA 92101
      • Debido al tamaño de este lugar, no se requieren boletos para asistir a la ceremonia. Los asientos son por orden de llegada. Habrá asientos exclusivos, accesibles y para sillas de ruedas disponibles para quienes los necesiten.
      • Se proporcionarán servicios de traducción al español.
      • Hay muchos lugares de estacionamiento público cerca.
      • Prepárese para un clima más fresco por la noche. Recomendamos traer una chaqueta y se permite traer agua.
      • Tenga en cuenta que los estudiantes deben recoger su certificado de graduación, cualquier otro premio y un regalo el jueves 5 de junio o el viernes 6 de junio en persona en el campus de la escuela secundaria.
